The work of St John’s is paid for mainly by the members of St John’s, to whom we are very grateful. We do have other sources of income such as room lettings and special community events, but we receive no income from the Diocese of Rochester, the Church Commissioners or the Church of England’s central funds.
Most of our income pays for ministry and mission in our community, such as building maintenance, church heating, printing, housing and the vicar’s stipend. A proportion (usually 10%) of our annual church income is given away to the Missions and Charities we support.
Your gift to St John’s will go further if you can pay by bank transfer, cheque or standing order. For details of how to do this, please contact our Regular Giving Officer. You will then be contacted with full details including how to make your donation go further through tax-efficient giving.
All gifts are gratefully received!
St John’s Hardship Fund
In February 2025 we launched a new Hardship Fund to provide financial support to members of our church family who are in acute need.
The purpose of the initiative is to express our love for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are facing specific short-term financial needs which cannot be met from other sources of funding.
Application for grants from the fund are considered in confidence by a small team consisting of the Vicar, Wardens and Treasurer. A formal application process together with assessment criteria is currently being developed and will be published in due course.
To give to the fund (as either a regular gift or a one-off) or for further details please use the buttons below to donate online or to contact us for further details. As with all giving to St John’s, every donation will be handled in confidence.
We encourage all members of St John’s to become partners in this initiative by pledging a financial contribution, and to pray that this fund will be an effective support to those in our church family who are in the greatest need.
As a church we take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously and we are committed to ensuring that our church and buildings are safe places for all.
