Families Worker (part-time)

We are very excited to be recruiting for our first ever paid Families Worker.  St John’s is an accredited Child Friendly Church with a well-established families work, which until now has always been undertaken by a team of highly committed volunteers led by the Vicar and Wardens.  The significant growth of our families work since the pandemic means we are now looking to recruit a paid worker to join our team and help us develop this further.

Hours: The role is part-time (20 hours per week) for 2 years with the possibility of extension subject to funding availability

Salary: £14 to £16 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)

The Role: The successful applicant will have responsibility for overseeing and developing all aspects of our families, youth and children’s ministry to increase the mission of St John’s within our community.  A core part of this role is connecting with our community, and a flexible approach to working is needed, including evenings and weekends as required.

Key responsibilities:

  • To co-ordinate our existing programme for under-18s
  • To build and develop relationships with church families
  • To appoint, recruit, train and develop leaders and helpers
  • To explore opportunities for new midweek and/or weekend outreach activities

Please note: There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement for applicants to be a practising Christian who can fully support the ethos of this Anglican parish.  This post involves ‘regulated activity’ and is subject to a DBS Enhanced Disclosure plus Barred List check.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday 29th April.

Interviews will take place on Wednesday 8th May.

If you would like an informal conversation about the role, please contact the Revd Andrew McClellan at vicar@saintjohnsbromley.com.
